Do what you like 'or' like what you do!!!

We so often come across people who do not really enjoy what they do, still continue in the same path for many reasons.

Very lucky few really like what they are doing and are very satisfied by there work. They often say "I would not change it for anything...". Whereas most people spend there time asking themselves "What was I thinking when I started this job!! How could have I spent this long on something that I did not even like!!!". The choice of a job mainly depends on what one is expecting. Few select a profession depending on how feasible the market is and where they can make big bucks!!! Quite some to fulfill there parents expectations and Rest just go with what comes in there way to help pay there bills!!! Whatever may be the reason, if you are not enjoying your work even a bit, then there is no meaning in continuing. There are people who do not like what they do, but they keep a great balance in there work and interests (outside work) and constantly tell themselves that there work is just a platform for them to make money to fulfill there interests outside. If you cannot find that balance or a way to incorporate your interests into your work life then it would be a better choice to change what you are doing.

It is very important to like what you do because it will make you much more committed and motivated to your career and to what you are doing. When you love what you do, you’ll be a much healthier and happier person, will approach your work more enthusiastically and feel a lot satisfied in life. At the end of the day you should be able to say "I am doing what I like" or at least "I like what I do"...

Never leave that till tomorrow which you can do today!!!

Benjamin Franklin said "Never leave that till tomorrow which you can do today", he was a wise fellow, and so in that case you would imagine that most people might listen to him. No, we still tend to put things off till later period if it is not affecting us immediately, one of man's many weaknesses. Now is it always because of laziness? Or is it because of fear of some kind?

There is a nice quote from Grey's Anatomy, where character Meredith Grey express in her own simple way, which is my thought too, as to why most of the people try to push things off until later period, - "I don't know why we put things off, but if I had to guess, I'd have to say it has a lot to do with fear. Fear of failure, fear of rejection, sometimes the fear is just of making a decision, because what if you're wrong? What if you're making a mistake you can't undo? The early bird catches the worm. A stitch in time saves nine. He who hesitates is lost. We can't pretend we hadn't been told. We've all heard the proverbs, heard the philosophers, heard our grandparents warning us about wasted time, heard the damn poets urging us to seize the day. Still sometimes we have to see for ourselves. We have to make our own mistakes. We have to learn our own lessons. We have to sweep today's possibility under tomorrow's rug until we can't anymore. Until we finally understand for ourselves what Benjamin Franklin really meant. That knowing is better than wondering, that waking is better than sleeping, and even the biggest failure, even the worst, beat the hell out of never trying."

Ultimately one has to do what is required, whether it is now or later. So why not do it right away and get it over with rather than putting it off till the end!!!

Is Imagination more important than Knowledge?

Albert Einstein said in one of his interviews "Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world". It is true, knowledge alone without any imagination is very limited and many things that we know of today would not have been discovered at all without imagination.

But is it just enough to have imagination? Don't we need to have awareness or knowledge of facts to improvise and develop on? Knowledge is something that provides people with facts. It is acquired through experience or education. It is the practical understanding or foundation to any subject. This helps people to judge between right and wrong, between reality and fantasy.

Imagination on the other hand provides meaning to this knowledge or experience that was acquired and helps people make sense of this world. Imagination is the creative ability to think and dream. Creativity is what gave birth to a lot of brilliant artists, writers and inventors in this world. I think imagination is like a new brick that is laid on top of the foundation called knowledge.

So, I think that imagination and knowledge go hand in hand. Without knowledge imagination cannot be built, any great imagination needs anchoring of reality, just a little pull back when imagination goes over board. Then again when imagination ceases, knowledge comes to a standstill.

Imagination might be the one that gives birth to new discoveries, but knowledge validates these imaginations.

Couple of ways to let out your frustrations!!!

Life is full of ups and downs. The main trick here is to enjoy the good times, every moment of it and handle the hard times bravely.  Everyone goes through rough time in there life but what matters more is how you handle it, whether you pretend as if it did not happen or face it and vent it out!

Never bottle up your frustrations. Find a healthy way to let out your feelings this will help to relieve stress, rage and anxiety.

Here are few ways how you can vent them out:

Cry – Crying out when you are sad or frustrated helps a lot. It helps to vent out the bottled up energy.

Punch bag  – Sometimes when you are angry or in a rage you might feel like punching or hit something. The healthy ways of expressing it is by hitting a pillow or use a punch bag. Just picture the punch bag as the object against which you are angry, if it helps yell out while hitting the object. This way you can express the feeling and also find what aspect of it is making you this angry.

Listening to music  – Sometimes it helps when you listen to music. It calms you down.

Talking – Talking is one of the best way to let out you anger and frustration. You can talk to someone close to you or can go for counseling. Sometimes you will find that talking to oneself helps as well. Often we can understand more just by hearing ourselves speak, things that made sense a little while before may not make sense any more.

Writing – You can keep a journal and write down all the feelings and emotions that you are going through and reread them for more clarity and also help you learn things much better.

Channel it towards something helpful – Few handle their issues and emotions by channeling their energy towards something useful or something they are working on.

Express your feeling through an art – What better way to express yourself then creating something that is beautiful and memorable. This is something you will remember and can revisit when you feel like. It is said, “A work of art which did not begin in emotion is not art!!”

Exercise – This is not that different from punching a bag or a pillow, you are venting out your stress by some physical act, plus getting in shape and you are healthy. This will release stress and help you feel relaxed.

Yoga and meditation also helps to clear your mind.

Everyone has there own ways of letting out how they feel, above are few start-ups. Life may not be the party you hoped for, but while you are here you might as well make best out of it

Life is what we make it, always has been, always will be.

Childhood vs Adult life

Its kind of hard to decide which one I like the most, the innocent, carefree childhood or the independent adult life that I have now!!!
Oh being an adult means that you don’t have to answer anyone for being late or doing anything, independent and free, but at the cost of heavy responsibilities…
As a child you never has to worry about any responsibilities or anything (except for getting good grades J), like – when you want food there it is cooked and ready for you to eat, you can say anything and people around you think it is cute, you don’t have to worry about earning money or paying bills etc, but you cannot do things the way you want...
Its like when you were a kid you were in a hurry to grow up and now that you are you start missing your childhood’s carefree life.

Grown up, and that is a terribly hard thing to do. It is much easier to skip it and go from one childhood to another!!!

Grass is always greener on the other side of the fence!!!

I was reading this short story which was based on “Grass is always greener” saying and I felt how we are always so busy thinking on how green the other side is, that we forget what we have!!! Of course grass looks greener on the other side because it’s the grass that we don’t have!!!! Person working in a big company for 14 hrs a day will look at a self employed person and feel sad that he does not have time flexibility, where as the self employed person will look at this big company guy and think how he would wish to have that kind of job security! It’s like a big cycle that never ends. There is always someone somewhere who has it better, or so everyone thinks.

Often talent and situation of other people looks much more desirable than one’s own. It feels like the whole world is against us when it might not be true in reality at all. Most people desire and value things that they don’t have or can’t afford to have more than what they can afford. So they try to glorify their life by spray painting their grass green so that it will match the one on the other side of the fence!!!! Why do they always seek to be better than the world around when in fact they could be awesome enough just the way they are? And then again perception of the grass is in the eyes of the watcher.

I think that if we stop being unhappy on what we don’t have and try to be happy and grateful for what we have, this whole world will look like such a better place to live in and we won’t even have to spray paint the grass to match the other side!!!
